The following activities will guide the staff of the Greater Cedar Valley Chamber of Commerce:
Membership Recruitment/Retention
- Conduct the semi-annual New Member Welcome to introduce new members to the Chamber and to each other.
- Hold the semi-annual Committee Orientation to get more members involved in Chamber activities.
- Mentor new members to help them maximize their investment.
- Ongoing systems analysis of membership database
- Retention Drives
- Titled “Operation Thank You” taking place Fall 2008 and Spring 2009.
- Membership Campaign
- New Member Drive taking place October 7-8 and 14-15.
- Reinforce current membership through retention calls.
- Recruit new members.
- Explore opportunities to increase non-dues revenue.
Networking/Fundraising Initiatives
Membership Services
- Promote the “Business Showcase.”
- Recruit “Chairman’s Circle” sponsors.
- Re-print the Chamber Membership Directory in February-March of 2009. Explore possible re-design options.
- Pursue possible monthly newsletter make-over.
- Plan an “Executive Welcome” event. The purpose of the event will be to welcome all Chamber member executives that are new to the Cedar Valley.
- Explore affinity programs.
Membership Rates
- Explore the possibility of a start-up rate for incubator businesses.
Leadership Programs
- Cedar Valley Leadership Institute
- Enhance the current program.
- Young Professionals Initiative
- Explore the possibility of creating a Young Professionals program
Great Places
- Coordinate efforts for the 2009 combined proposal for Waterloo/Cedar Falls.
Education
- Plan and execute the annual New Teachers’ Breakfasts.
- Evaluate Knowledge at Noon and implement changes to format.
- Participate with area schools in the “Excellence in Teaching” program.
My Waterloo Days
- Produce the My Waterloo Days Festival with continued downtown focus.
Complete Integration with the Greater Cedar Valley Alliance
- Design an annual event for Greater Cedar Valley Alliance investors and Chamber members.
Greater Cedar Valley Alliance Communications Campaign
- Begin planning and implementing the External Marketing Campaign.
- Develop a video to be placed on the Chamber website.
Continued Staff Education
- Attend semi annual Iowa Chamber of Commerce Executives Conferences.
- Attend annual Mid American Chamber of Commerce Executives Conference.
- Attend annual American Chamber of Commerce Executive Conference.
